    721 with a 12” Plate

Anyone go from a 10” to a 12” plate on your 721? Was talking to a local dealer here and he was telling me if I put a 12” plate on the back of my 721 it would make a big difference. Couple more miles an hour and even better ride.

I have been looking at 721s also and was told to definitely move up to the 12" plate.

Everything I've seen says the 12 is better than the 10. Holeshot will be a tad slower and it may be a touch more difficult with chine walk at wot but everything else is improved. I just put 2" spacers on my 10" plate so If the logs and debris from all this rain ever clears up I'll be able to give a direct comparison going from a 10 to a 12

12" is absolutely better on 920s and 721s

    I have a 12" on my 721, and with a 4 blade 26 fury I'm getting 72-73mph

...I have the factory Z-lock 8” plate on my 2013 721 with a 3 blade 26 Fury (sometimes run the tempest plus). 70+ is the norm at WOT, somewhere around 5700-5800 rpm. I thought going to a 12” would benefit. I’m more convinced my set up is pretty darn good. I think I’ll keep it where it is. The Tempest plus gets a couple mph less but better in the summer.

I’m running a 26 Fury 3 on mine with the 10”plate. Full tournament load two guys I’m running 74-75. Only time I’ve pushed it by myself I hit 78mph. If a couple more inches can get me a few more miles an hour and an even smoother ride that would be a plus.

Been running a 12” atlas since day one. Hole shot is great fully loaded, ran it up to 78 mph solo and 72-74 consistently loaded with 2 guys. Hardly chine walks and runs better a few bumps down from full trim. Only thing I’ve noticed is when turning left trimmed up the boat starts to hop a lil bit, not sure if it’s caused from the extra length on the JP, probably not though.

that left hop is common on most all Phoenix's when at a certain trim, usually a few bumps down they will flatten out

I've had mine out twice since I added the spacers. First time out it was too rough to test top end but it did seem to ride and handle a little better as well as come out of the hole a little quicker. The second time was a tourney day. It was still a bit too rough to hold wot and find the sweet spot on engine height but I still ran 76 and change with 2 guys, 3/4 tank, 1 well full of fish, and a pretty heavy tackle/gear load in the calmer stretch. I don't have poles or talons but I've got stacked graphs and a 360 on the nose to catch a bunch of wind.

On calmer water where I can dial in engine height and not have to saw on the wheel I think that same load will run between 77-78 in the cooler months which is 2-3 mph faster with adding the 2" spacers.

I have a Bob's Hydraulic 12" on my 721. The best I've seen was 74.7 mph with 2 people and tournament load and 76.2 by myself. I have an SHO. As far as chine walking goes, it's still there. need to be careful after 73 mph.
