I have a '99 Mercury 150 XR6... I take very care of this motor but have been experiencing carburetor issues which might be as expected in a 20 year old 2 stroke engine. I was wondering if anyone with similar motors could give me some pointers on fuel additives and/or preventative maintenance to keep me out on the water.

There is a faq in the 2.5 L section with maintenance to do. Your motor should be in that forum, understandably the names are confusing. Also includes Don’s cocktail which includes Mercury Quickleen and Mercury Quickcare. As far as carbs go, I remove and clean them about every 18-24 months, mainly because mine sits up a lot and it once burned a piston because a clogged carb. Also, if you read the faq it is asked to list your serial number for the most accurate responses.
