iRod Genesis Stone Cold Vibrating Jig Rod 723c

Anyone have this rod and can comment on throwing 1/2, 3/4 oz and the occasional 1.25 oz Jackhammer Chatterbait? Most often I fish with a 3/4 oz + trailer. Thanks

I know you didn't ask, but I throw 3/4-1oz Chatterbaits a fair amount and haven't found a better rod than the tatula elite 7'4 randy Howell big topwater mhrb.

Had thought about that rod as well. Looked closely at the 7-2 MH Howell. I didn’t have the 7-4 MH to compare to unfortunately. I’d like to take both of those rods on the water along with the iRod and give them a thorough testing!

The 7'2 and 7'4 Howell rods are very similar and have the same action and bend, the 7'4 just has a bit more power along the entire length of the rod. I use the 7'2 for 3/8 and 1/2, 7'4 for 1/2 and up.

Do you think the 7-2 MH would have enough backbone to occasionally throw a 1.25 Jackhammer+trailer? I usually fish the 3/4 oz but would like a rod to stretch to a heavier lure if needed. I’m recovering from a long bout of elbow tendinitis so the slightly shorter/lighter 7-2 MH might be preferable over the 7-4 MH.

The 3/4 jackhammer will be fine on the 7'2, but the 1.25oz will be a little much. It will still work, you'll just have to take it easy casting it

Good to know. I got an email from Matt Newman and he said the lure rating on the 723c has since been moved from 1 oz up to 1.5 ounce. Its been updated on their web site but not others including TW.
