New Terrova Trolling Motor; Do I Need a Stabilizer?

I am getting a 45" Terrova soon. Do you think I need a stabilizer for this size TM or only for the longer shaft Terrovas? Fitting on a RT178C.

You should be fine without one for the 45” shaft. I ran one for 2 years without one and did not have a problem.

Get the ram claw style one. I have an XI5 and I use one. I leave the collar in the deployed position all the time. The clamp holds the shaft in place so there is no fear of the TM deploying while driving. Turning the screw for the clamp takes no more time than moving the collar. Assuming the terrova has the sliding collar.

been running a 45"80lb. Terrova for years 8+,,You don't need a stabilizer at all.I pull mine I don't move the collar never had any worries.I run 50mph.Choppy water ,rough water.all conditions, hasn't deployed yet,,,,One thing you should do is,,,Make sure to un plug the motor before charging

Come on people. How is T & H going to pay all their pros if we stop buying stuff we don't need?

ha ha. I guess they will have to try to continue to rip people off with one of their many other not needed supplies. Oxygenator anyone???

watch the stress testing part of this made for the outdoors show on minn kotas, pretty sure you don't need a stabilizer.

Minn Kota makes a stabilizer kit. I used it for my Terrova. Can't hurt to have one.
