Would there be any concern with buying one with 140 hours on it? Did this year have the bearing problem. Never owned a Yamaha before, so don't know much about them.

My '14 SHO blew at 196 hours. My buddies '12 blew at 194 hours.

My 2014 SHO had cracked head with 200 hours!
Ended up buying a 2014 with 271 hours on it. Everything checked out good, but I guess you never really know. As I said before, this will be my first Yamaha motor.
No you never do! I can tell you this, I ended up buying 3 more years of warranty coverage (Yamaha YES) from Andy at SIM Yamaha (cheapest and great service/knowledge) because of my heads cracking out of the blue! No indication of a problem at all before I saw the crankcase oil on the garage floor....Scary stuff!!
My 2010 SHO 250 just got major service from dealer and it checked out perfect , runs like new and always had .
It's a gamble. Mine blew with less than 225hrs and was a 2012.
SHO's do not like to run hot. That will ruin your day quickly. Cool it down as fast as possible. I think the bearing issue was corrected in 2013. i have 460 hours on my 2012 and i run it hard. So far so good.
