MLF guys are seeing what Thrift is all about already. Thrift could be GOAT imo!
Maybe BassFan will now give him the ranking he deserves.
He is doing well for the first time. Have to see What Dudley does tomorrow

It’s not a great math formula. I’ve made some of my own and none have Thrift as low as their so called formula. More like a math formula with bonus points.
So what is this math formula?
So excited to see Thrift and Dudley against the best. It reminds me of watching Morgan finally fish against the best. It was great to see him win last year. Talk about a classic, Thrift catches his first fish and it weighs 1lb 15oz non scorable. He holds it up and looks at this 16 inch fish before releasing it and realizes that he has never caught a fish that big in his life that wasn't a keeper. CLASSIC
Anybody know why he still runs a Fortrex? No spot lock. That is best thing since sliced bread

My reply might be a little long for some to read and seem far out there or something like Dr. Phil would say but it's just my opinion. The reason Bryan Thrift runs a Fortex is because of one of the side effects from Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. He has openly spoke about his OCD on his podcast Let's Talk Fish. The two most common side effects he has with OCD is he does not like change and everything must be neat and organized.
He spoke about how he likes the Fortrex and how it gets the job done so "why change" his exact words. Another example of this is not long ago his daily driver (not boat puller but daily driver) was and older Chevy suburban. It had 275,000 miles on it when he got rid of it. He has over 3 million in winnings but he still drove that old SUV because it got him from point A to point B. He even said he still sees it running around his hometown and made the comment he wished he still had that suburban. His wife was the person who finally talked him into getting rid of it after he made over 500,000 in winnings last year.
Another thing you will notice is how neat and organized everything is on his boat. If you look at his deck you will notice 12 or more rods on deck and they are all lined up and spaced perfectly. He even goes as far as turning the reel handle so it is straight with the rod before he lays it on the deck. He has said if he looks down on the deck and sees one out of place he will correct it. He also mentioned he will go behind his wife after she has cleaned the house and organize things his way. To him this is just simply the way things must be for him to function happily and be successful.
Again just another opinion of mine but things associated with his OCD is a big part of what makes him such a threat to win every time he is on the water. He has a certain way he does things and it just so happens those ways are very successful at catching fish. Buy him doing it the same way every time he gets very similar results. If my memory is correct Thrift holds the longest streak of weighing in a 5 bass limit. I want to think its something like 70 some tournaments days in a row. He has only been on the pro side of fishing about 15 years and has a little over 3 million in winnings. His FLW stats show he has fished 171 events and was in the top ten 68 times. That's and average of 40%. In professional fishing being in the top ten 40% of the time is almost unheard of. Although KVD is not currently putting up numbers like he did in his prime a lot people still consider KVD the most dominate angler in the last 25 years. In 314 BASS events he was in the top ten 112 time for a 36% average. This is just a comparison of Thrift's numbers to KVD's numbers to get a grasp on how good he really is. In 2005 ESPN held a greatest angler debate and KVD notched out Rick Clunn. At the time KVD was on-top of the bass fishing world and Rick Clunn was showing signs of slowing down form his 3 previous decades of fishing. If this debate was held today or within just a short few years I suspect Bryan Thrift would be a front runner. I mean this as no slur to Bryan or FLW but the only thing that would hold him back from not winning the votes would be people from FLW tend to not be as publicly well known as people from BASS. Again no slur towards MLF but I don't think Thrift fishing in MLF is going to get him anymore exposure than what he got in FLW. In fact he may get even less but if you listen to him talk you will know he does not seek the spotlight. He just likes to show up and fish and go home. That is just his personality. I know I may of gotten a little side tracked in my response but long story short, the real reason he does not fish a Fortrex is because of OCD and his dislike of change.

I have noticed how organized his rods are. Thanks for posting..
Very good write up. A lot of people claim they are OCD, it not near as many are as extreme as this. My best friend is one of the few I know. He is very successful, but man he has to things absolutely perfect or he can’t function. His house, garage, cars, etc are organized to a level you can’t imagine. Even just simple things bother him. If he doesn’t have his coffee and check his email FIRST thing in the morning his day is shot. It will brother him all day
