    Question out of curiosity. Lower units.

    It seems as if higher HP outboards have more problems with lower units tearing up. Is that primarily because of the higher gear ratios?

    no sir, load,abuse,higher output mtrs,you aughta see the difference in a gen 2 and a gen 1 pinion gear on later 3.0L optis , and verado gearcases internals
