New 4-Stroke ProXS Transom Saver Suggestions

I'm repowering my 2007 Cougar with a new 250 ProXS. The DD26 transom savers are too expensive. The new RMP transom saver looks pretty good, but they're out of stock. Any other suggestions that work well and aren't $200 plus?

You say its too expensive.... your toting around a 17,000+ motor. Just saying .... And I can assure you theres a reason its so high. You WILL NOT break this thing. Its very heavy duty

The Tote Rite is the only one that I know of made for the 4S that will lock it in WITHOUT the use of steering clips.

How sturdy is it? Doesn’t look as solid as others from pics.

I personally have used the DD26 towing around different 4-Strokes and it is seriously built to handle abuse. It may be pricey but if you have never had your hands on it you wouldn't understand the difference. It is beefy, custom powder coated to match most boat colors, and built to last, not bend or warp and break. 60-100K plug rig and complaining about a $200 dollar accessory that holds a 20K motor, think about that one, you get what you pay for as always

Ordered the Tote Rite to avoid the steering clips. Thanks for the suggestions.

None of these are "Transom Savers". These devices only isolate the interial loads from off the motor trim cylinders. The only devices that protect the transom, motor, jack plate, etc. are the ones that support the motor lower unit by the rear of the trailer.

A good question for Bass Cat Boats is: Can today's BCB boats, with their more substantial all composite transoms and aft hull designs, handle the repeated loads from trailering?

I'm using the old school pole type that secures to the trailer on my 250 Pro XS Fourstroke. Does anyone see a problem with this? I always thought that I'd rather have the trailer absorb any road shock.

I believe that BassCat recommends the old school lower unit to the trailer type of transom saver

I was of the school of thought that the motor support needed to go down to the trailer too. But recently there have been lots of discussions about the RMP & DD26 units. One great comment made on the Merc page was that there is a good bit of movement/flex between boats and their trailers...and that the motor to trailer supports transfer that movement back into the motor/transom....so apparently it's a tradeoff as to which motion you're controlling or which scenario you believe in. For the record I used the old style motor to trailer supports on my last 2 boats and now have the RMP unit on my current boat. Don't notice any difference in motor movement between the 2 styles when towing it now.
