What's happened to our pick-up trucks?

What happened to the ½ ton truck with an 8 foot bed that had a bench seat, a manual 4-speed transmission, was affordable and didn’t require a ten year loan to pay for, had a standard AM/FM radio, roll down windows, sat low enough that I could reach the middle of the bed, had an engine I could service myself and an engine compartment I could get my whole body into.. ??

They don't produce anything in small numbers anymore. Limited purchases put them out. You may be able to order one through the work truck line.

The only ones that would know how to shift them and roll the windows down would be us boomers.

There have been more than one carjackings that didn't happen. Door gets wrenched open, gun drawn, then, "forget it I can't drive a stick".

No demand for them so they stopped making them. The current offerings are what people want, if people wanted stick shifts, 8ft beds, hand crank windows etc, they would make them, but very few people want that anymore so they don't offer them.

They still make utility series and those are used commonly by all the service industries.
