    Cockpit floor dips??

After removing the old carpet I noticed the cockpit floor dips a little. I noticed with the carpet on but now have a better idea of the extent. I'm wondering if this is normal to allow for water to drain or should it be flat? BTW...when I first bought the boat it had been outside with no cover. Below are the pictures to show how large the dip is.

    Thanks,

    Robert

The red circles show where the dipping in the floor is.

Depth of the dip on the front of the cockpit floor, starboard side under the console.

Depth of the dip on front of cockpit floor, stern side.

Depth of dip on rear of cockpit floor, stern side.

Is it soft when you step on it? A lot of boat builders use thin luan to support the glass they apply on the floor. Well unfortunately they don't bother to seal the wood before stapling down. Trapped moisture get to work on the underside. The flotation supports the floor until the wood rots out then you get the sags. If soft then tap with a hammer, a low thud you have rot. Good glass gives a crack sound.
