    Things every boater needs

Hey guys, just posted this in the Clever tips & ideas forum and wanted to share here. Wrote this up because there are a few key things that either just aren't talked about or over looked, give it a read.

Very good idea for all. Being a first responder/fire fighter I try to plan for the worst and hope for the best.
Years ago we would trailer to Lake Baccarac Mexico-- Six hundred miles South of the Arizona border. Since I had some training I was the resident Dr. I still carry a well stocked EMT kit. If you didn't go prepared for mechanical problems you may get to sit on the bank at the best lake in the world.
I also carry a spare prop for both mtrs and have changed a few on the water. A water proof bag with insulated coveralls, sox, beanie cap, ski gloves, matches, can of sterno and some MRE's. Even at lake Amistad or Falcon in the winter you brake down with no phone service and you might get to spend the night in Mexico.
I have been in the water twice in the winter and used the dry clothes. looked a little strange fishing with all my wet stuff hanging everywhere.

Being prepared is key to me and it doesn't take a ton of effort, but the minute you're in a bind on the water it immediately becomes a HUGE deal!

EPIRB is nice to have as well. I apologize if I missed that in your article. Great job, btw.

Yes, definitely. I did look into those awhile back, but never pulled the trigger. I do fish the Delta which is a river system so I should re-evaluate that.

Very good, sage advice. The insurance is something I def need to check into deeper. I need to be 100% sure all the bases are covered even though the limits and coverages "seem" to be fine. Nothing like having a real boating insurance carrier watching out for you.
