    jerkbait rod

Looking for people who've used both the megsbass jb special and the Dobyns 704cb. be throwing mostly 100 110 120 duo and megabass style jerkbaits with this rig would be a dedicated jb rod setup. Which one did you choose and why thank you

I had both, kept the 704cb for small squarebills and picked up 6’10M Expride for jerkbaits. It’s awesome.

I had the 704 and it was just a tad too soft for 1/2 oz jerkbaits I also ended up with the 6’10 m expride

I had a 704cb and it was a noodle...not a good rod for jerkbaits IMO. The Megabass jerkbait special is a good rod...it actually doubled as my neko rig rod when it got warmer out. This year I will be running an ALX Zolo jerkbait rod.

I love the 705CB for shallow to mid depth cranks! I use 2 of them.

Everyone is different but I had the 704cb graphite and it was a little stiff for the baits I used, it's a fine line for a stiff enough tip but forgiving after you hook one.

How is your comparison between the ALX Zolo jerkbait rod and the Megabass jerkbait special? Which one do you like better?

I Love dobyns rods but no idea how people can use the 704 for jerkbaits . The 685CB would be my choice but in the MB line up, the 110 special is king.

Tried many times using casting rod, I have decided use Johnny Morris Med 6'8 X-fast spinning rod, It easier for me to jerkbait that way.

685cb is my favorite jerkbait rod. The 684cb is a great rod too for colder weather. I love the 704 and 705cb's for small squarebills and cranks but not so much jerkbaits.

I just picked up a Denali 6'8" Attax in hopes it is the answer to jerkbaits. So far it feels the part but the baits are still bouncing off the ice so I don't really know yet.

I've been moving more to the Powell Endurance 6104, I still use my Dobyns but I see the Powell's in my hand more and more.

I used the Dobyns Champion 704cb graphite for years as my jerkbait rod. It's the right rod, 705 is too much power IMO. This year, I bought the ALX Zolo jerkbait rod, and after two weeks using it, sold my Dobyns 704. The ALX rod is a better length for slashing downward, and it has the perfect power/bend/rebound for jerkbaits. The 704cb was good, but ALX has mastered the technique with a specific rod.

There is a huge difference in using the 704/705cb vs the 684/685cb Dobyns. The latter are much better length for jerkbaits - have a lot more pop.

Depends a little on how tall you are. But I have grown to appreciate the “stiffer” 6104 Powell over my 704CB Graphite Dobyns.
