    300xs exhaust tube restrictor

    Hi,

Somebody knows what is the meaning of this smal exhaust tube insert above cavication plate? Heard this is only a emission thing for European 300xs like a restrictor. Can somebody confirm this if its possible to remove without problems?

    Kind regards,

Thanks for your reply so don't touch the exhaust and exhaust tube? Something to do with back pressure? Have a DBR 1.3 pcm moved air temp sensor , cowl mod with faceplate and mad efi flywheel. Was looking to let her breath better and maybe more sound. But if it will hurt reliability I will not toutch it.

    Kind regards,

I have the same set up on my 300xs, they didn't mess with the exhaust tube. From what I have been told is, that it will move more air out than what is being pushed to it but maybe someone else can confirm that.

The thing you are looking at seems to be the water tube locator, I do not think it restricts exhaust flow at all.....

that is a stainless exhaust director to relieve some of the pressure at low speed and at hole shot reduces the amount of exh directly on blades of prop possibly inducing less slippage at hole shot on over hub propellers ,one reason on some heavier bass rigs the 250pxs is quicker out of hole

I don't remember seeing that on my old 300xs it was a 2012 I think.

Wasn't present in all models of the 300XS.

Don't recommend removing if your engine was equipped as it will alter the airflow characteristics (potential for a lean condition).

Thanks for the post :) so there are also difference in years (know about different compressor and coils) mine is from 2008 have dbr kit so runs little more rich. But I will follow the advise don't want to kill my engine. Thanks a lot :)
