Type of oil for mercury optimax 225
I recently purchased a boat with a 2013 225 optimax. The previous owner ran Quicksilver 2 stroke marine synthetic oil. Do any of you guys run this oil? Have you had any issues with it? Are there better options out there, if so what should I look into running instead? Thanks in advance for your responses. This is my first boat so any advice is much appreciated.

Yes. Mercury OptiMax oil. But at dealer. That motor needs specific oil.

Mercury or Quicksilver (EXACT SAME OIL) DFI oil. Sometimes labeled as Optimax oil. It is a synthetic blend. It has a brownish tint. Also look into “Don’s Cocktail” for fuel additives: Quickleen, Quickcare and Premium Plus oil.

Welcome to BBC!
Mercury or Quicksilver DFI, both synthetic blends, and as 06 said they are THE same oil, Quicksilver is Mercury just different labeling to be sold from non-Mercury outlets.
