Need help with lid support in Lynx.

The lid support for the port side rod box in my Lynx is continuing coming loose.
Every time I shut the lid, the ball comes out of the fitting at the end of the arm.

can this be repaired, or do I need to replace the entire brace?

The ball is coming off the bracket? Sounds like a faulty bracket. Call Alan in parts or your dealer. More than likely will replace under warranty. They usually last forever.
If the rod is popping off the ball that would be a strut issue.

isn't there a clip that holds fitting at the ball?

I had the same problem with the center storage box on my Cougar. Dropped down from a 40 lb to a 30 lb lid shock which solved it. Just have to watch that I don't get conked in the head during a heavy wind gust.
There was a time that I didn't fish but I cannot remember it.

The second comment is my problem. The socket at the end of the strut will not stay connected, or locked onto the ball.

Mike , You need to bend the bottom bracket. Both of my boxes done the same just need a small adjustment.

It’s the angle of the dangle, give us a call next week and we will help out.

geometry is causing this on your rig.

I apologize. You stated the ball was popping out the bracket.
The strut popping off the ball can sometimes be corrected by removing the metal clip and squeezing it to fit tighter. Then reinstall the clip to the strut and try that.
Or as BCB stated, it could have been located incorrectly. Angle incorrect.

Can you provide a picture for correct angle of everything ? I am having exact problem with lid on Caracal. Alan has sent me a new assembly to install.

I had the same issue and turned out to be a slightly bent mounting bracket. Bent it back and hasnt been an issue since. If you have the compartment stuffed or a taller plano box, that might have caused it.

I had to adjust one on my lynx. I put a light in the box and watched the strut as I closed the box. By doing this it was easy to see the direction it needed to go, it was an easy fix.

    Follow up.
working from all the great comments above, the fix for my Lynx was to take a pair of slip joint pliers and bend the short bracket forward, about 1/16 of an inch.
