Powertech or Mercury on a new Mercury 150 ?

Getting a new Mercury 150 on a 19' aluminum boat, taking off a Honda 90 with a Mercury Silverado 16 pitch that ran 36mph.
Looking at props, the Mercury props are about twice the price as similar Powertech props, any reason not to run a Powertech prop?

Depending on what your boat needs for lift, Is how I would buy a propeller. Why spend that much money on more HP and leave performance on the table with the wrong prop?

I agree, but how would I know what performance I am leaving on the table without buying and trying a prop? The Powertech props look like they are very similar to Mercury are they equal quality?

That seems like a big increase in pitch, this is the boat 19', around 1700lbs, 14 degree V hull.

I run Power Tech props on my 250 Pro XS. Never had a problem with them.

Just to be clear... I have owned and run many PT props on my boats since 1998... But PT makes many different props and they are not all good for the application you are asking about.

What is the PowerTech equivalent to the Mercury Tempest Plus?

I'm not sure they have one... Their VMS is their Pro Series M Yamaha prop and their VMX is Yamaha's T1... Both are 3 blades.
