2003 200 PRO XL setup advice

Hi all. I recently bought a 2003 200 Pro XL and wanted to see if anyone has a similar setup that could share their numbers and setup details. Mine has a just-rebuilt 2006 Merc Optimax, 8" detwiler hydraulic jackplate, a pair of 12' talons with plate-mounted tilt brackets. It has a 24 Fury 4-blade on it. With that prop, in my test drive last October I was getting around 67 top speed and instantaneous hole shot. That's with with 2 guys, full tournament load, half full gas. Would love to see what prop and motor height people are using with similar setups and what kind of performance they are seeing. Thanks!

seems like you run a fairly heavy load. I don’t have much dealings with a fury 4 but the 3 blade Fury just didn’t have enough lift for me. With talons on the back, you may need to look for a prop that has both bow and stern lift. I know for a fact TXP props run exceptionally well on that hull but they are extremely hard to find new. I would see if I could hunt down a 25 or 26 tempest and a 25 TXP to test.

What rpm range are you getting out of that Fury 4 and do you know what your prop to pad settings are?

Your doing pretty good with that Fury but like stated above, these hulls love lift at both ends and weight in the ass. If you could provide your RPM info that would help but I've had good luck with the Trophy on these hulls. I'm thinking a 25 but it's hard to say, how many hours do you have on that motor. They get stronger once broken in well so if not broken in well just wait for more testing.

Thanks guys. I forgot to get the RPMs, or I don't remember with it being last october. I'll have to ask the prior owner.

Tempest is your prop... Call C&O Marine and ask for Joe, he'll get you hooked up... Then send the prop to Mark Croxton... Dan

It sounds just right to me. If you want speed you need to switch to a 25 or 26 Tempest Plus and move as much weight as you can to the aft. I would say low to mid 70's with this switch but you will drag out of the hole.

I happen to have a still new tempest 25 3-blade. I will definitely try that out. It's stock, but would love to see what Mark Croxton could do to it.
