1996 Astro S-20DC Questions
Hi Guys,
I'm looking at a 96 Astro S-20DC with a 200 Merc and was wondering a few things. I've owned a lot of boats over the years, but thought maybe you guys could advise on a few checks. I'm really just looking for something a bit bigger than my current Charger 186.
1. Any tricks to checking the transom on this boat? Seller says it's solid but I'd like to inspect as much as possible and it does not seem like it's readily accessible from the inside. Any tips?
2. Are these known for soft floors or general fiberglass/structural problems?
3. Does anyone have a catalog page or manufacturer information on this model?
Interestingly, in 1996 I secured a pro staff deal and I had two offers, one for an Astro F20 with a dealer, and another offer with Charger Boats and a 195VF. I took the Charger deal. So I'm fairly familiar with the history of Astro/ProCraft but was hoping someone here had one, has been there and done that on this model.
I've searched this forum a lot for information as well.
Thanks for any input.

Oh, and if the transom is solid, is a 4", 6" or 10" jackplate ideal for this hull?

These are great looking boats, I was very impressed with the room behind the consoles etc when I checked it out, but I'm passing on this one and it's nicely rigged just too many ???? on the condition of the transom, hull, stringers etc. But I really liked the overall boat if it had been in better condition...
