True but for some reason I got side tracked on a cranking battery and I was thinking about the group 31 that a lot of people use. You are correct they have smaller size batteries cheaper than $175...the OP has yet to say what he is looking for. A cranking or trolling battery. Buy the statement of him looking for two batteries I bet he is looking for trolling batteries and if that is the case then smaller group size batteries you pointed out will be within his budget.

The everstarts these days are serialized and they scan them at purchase. Last one I needed to replace they didn't even ask for the receipt, they just scanned the barcode on the battery.

I sure do miss that river. Use to fish it all the time in the 80ties and it had plenty of bass. Even fished it out of a 12 ft. jon boat with a 2 hp johnson motor. Ramp I used was on a dirt road back then.

Looking at Oreillys they have a 27DCM (deep cycle marine)
    https://www.oreillyauto.com/detail/b.../27dcm/4742400

    and a 27MS (marine starting)

    https://www.oreillyauto.com/detail/b...y/27ms/4742402

specs on the “starting” battery seem better across board for a trolling motor battery or am I wrong?

this has my vote. I’m running everstarts on my jon boat are 6yrs old and never had an issue. Cheap, reliable, and long lasting. Not sure you could ask for better. I had interstates but was replacing them every year or so
