That’s a biggun. Would love to see a picture as that is a special fish.
Even though I was born and raised in Nebraska and love it here. The older I get (even though I’m only currently 33) the more appealing moving South seems when retirement comes. Still have a long time to figure it out though.

Don’t see many over 3. Great catch. I caught a 3-15 when I was in High School out of a pond you could skip a rock across. Caught MP largemouth the that time the same day. I’ve never seen one that big since I caught it. I filleted it and ate it. Tasted just like the muck in the bottom of the pond. Sure wished I would have had it mounted.
There’s no use being stupid if you’re not willing to show it off.
Most of you guys know about the bass fishing here on Clearlake. Its also an incredible Crappie fishery . Last year a crappie tournament series started . 2lb average for most of the tournaments . Ive seen a few around 4 pounds and heard of 5 pounders.
Never weighed them but I have caught some bigger than my cutting board below the dam. If I remember right I am talking 18” but do not remember.
That's a big one!
That’s a great fish. And of course, I have my own fish story. In the mid-70s, as more or less newlyweds, my wife and I went to Santee Cooper for a crappie trip. Didn’t know a thing about the fishery other than that they had big crappies. And did they! My wife caught a 3 lb., 9 oz. beauty. I didn’t catch anything in the 3 pound class. She didn’t like the accommodations all that much, though, and wouldn’t be caught dead on such a trip anymore.

I caught one 3lb 1oz when i was 10 or 12 out of a tiny local lake and the guy in the baitshop had it mounted because i couldnt afford it. It stayed in the baitshop for years before he passed and new people took over and now its nowhere to be found. I actually wish id got it. Im not a crappie fisherman and certainly didnt realize at the time what id caught. It was the wrong time of year to catch one that size as i believe it was close to 21”
They aint got hands, set the hook
congrats to your friend, that is a lot of crappie, i have had people fishing with me catch one around 2-2.5 and just swear it was 3+ i will tell them if were splitting up todays catch tell them to keep it, later the scales will break their heart, cause like I mentioned it takes a lot to make a 3+ crappie
my fish story; I caught a lake record crappie on fork bass fishing, guy we were fishing with told me there was not an established record at the time

I caught a 3lb 4oz crappie in the late 80's. I know my brother has pictures of it somewhere. I'm going to see if he can find them.
Now that's a sandwich... Dan

I dated Kate Upton for 3 months.
However, just like this giant crappie thread, it's all a lie unless I have photographic evidence.
