    Broken screw in fiberglass

The previous owner of my boat had a bird Mega transducer mounted near the bottom edge of the transom with screws. I removed it to place it on the jack plate I am installing. One of the screws was broke pretty much flush with the surface of the glass. I was thinking I would just slap some 3M 4200 over the holes and the screw but wanted to know if there was a better way to deal with the screw?

I think the plate will cover the empty holes but will just miss the broken screw.

I’d probably try grinding a slot for a screwdriver in it with a Dremel to see if you can back it out. Tape on a sheet of aluminum flashing with a hole drilled in it to protect the finish while cutting and trying the screwdriver.

You could try using an "Easy Out" if the scew doesn't turn freely

I have broken off stainless screws in my transom. You buy a depth finder for thousands of dollars and they cut costs on screws. Better off to try to set them in slightly maybe with a nail set and patch the hole.
