So my 1999 Evinrude 225 Ficht finally gave up the ghost with 625 hours.
Im seriously considering repowering with a new Yamaha 225 SHO
I like the boat, its in very good shape and I plan on keeping it for at least a few more years.
Whats every ones thoughts?

If you're just looking to get "a few more years" out of the boat why not search for a nice used motor that will suffice until you want to sell?
Get the G2 HO, you will love it.

i would also consider a 250hp motor lots more avail and only a little more. boat will run high 70's with one and proper set up

I asked the dealer about a 250 but they said if the boat was only rated for a max hp of 245 HP that I couldn't put a 250 HP on there.
I did it on my 21xl and never regretted it for one minute. Took the ox-66 off and put a SHO on. Kept it for 6 years after and sold it. If I had it to do over with I woulda kept that boat. Great storage, rode good, and was fast.
find another dealer 5hp no big deal at all

I was told 5 hp or 50 it was still over powered
and no dealer I called would do it.
Easy fix then...Buy a 200 or 225 and send the ECU off to HydroTec and get it flashed. The you will have a motor with 300 plus HP.
200-225-250 most likely the same just software differences and timing maybe?? all fixed with software

My 1999 Stratos 21 SS Extreme is rated for a 245. What a strange rating
