BTW, repentance = contrition + faith
Rodgers sees physical death and assumes correctly spiritual death (hell) for most of man. What evidence is there of a loving God? Always, always, always look to the cross and empty tomb. In eternity, before the world was created, before football was created, God saw Rodgers and us spitting in His face (every time we sin)--and in His fatherheart decided to sacrifice His only Son anyway. The heart of man yearns to be accepted and forgiven (that's what family reunions are all about). God cannot accept sin. He graciously pours out His Son's blood to cover our sins. We are declared righteous in His sight and fit for heaven. We belong in God's family.
One of my favorite passages for Rodgers and for us:
Micah 7:18ff
Who is a God like you, who pardons sin and forgives the transgression of the remnant of his inheritance?
You do not stay angry forever but delight to show mercy.
You will again have compassion on us;
You will tread our sins underfoot
And hurl all our iniquities into the depths of the sea.
The question isn't why all die and most go to hell. The real question is, why is anybody saved? Grace. The theme of the book of Isaiah: The remnant shall return. Indeed, by grace we shall return to Him by trusting what He says and does. God said so and that's that.
