Looking for a guide (for 5 of us) for a full day chasing whatever swims around.... preferably tarpon, reds, snook etc.

    Thanks in advance,

Where are you going? Marathon, Islamorada, Big Pine? There are many guides on most of the Keys.

Go to the Florida Sportsman Forum, look up the section on the Keys. There’s a guy on Big Pine Key, his posting name is Piner Wahoo, everything I’ve heard about him is that he’s very well regarded as a guide both in the backcountry and offshore.

If you want a quick 4-5 hour head boat trip catching snapper and grunts, on Marathon there’s a charter boat named the Marathon Lady. My family fished it last year, and some friends have fished it yearly for quite some time. Always a good trip. Summer time they also do night trips. The rods/reels are typical heavily used head boat rods, if you bring your own 7’-7 1/2’ rods and better hooks you’ll have a better experience. Nothing fancy, a bottom rig or Carolina rig and you’re good to go. Some of the regulars were using basic 3/8 oz jigheads, with a pink head. Some fished them bare, some tipped the jig with a piece of shrimp or squid.
