Do you have to format the SD card in the Humminbird Unit or can you do it on your lap top? Trying to pull lake map from Chartselect and having trouble. Says it don’t recognized card.

You cannot format a memory card in the unit.
You have to get the Encrypt folder put on the memory card with the unit BEFORE you can write the map data to it.
Max card size is 32 GB formatted FAT 32, unless you want to waste the memory space with a larger card formatted FAT 32.
The memory card just needs to be larger than the file size, but it is difficult finding one less than 16GB anymore.

Upgraded to Mega imaging from a HDS-12 Carbon
That is not needed anymore. The unit will automatically put the Encrypt folder on the card when you insert it.
