I have one tied on 100% of the time. People who are only using them in cold water are missing out. They will flat out catch fish any time of year.

I always have a damiki vault tied on from November through about March...they catch the hell out of stripers also..def one of my biggest confidence baits....catfish and white perch love them also
I had a very good day last week fishing a damiki vault on the Northeast river. Several fish with 3 over 4 pounds.
I’m following this thread for sure! I’ve thrown these off and on in the past but know very little about them, I definitely want to learn!
They can be money on the Great Lakes, I fish them mostly in the fall. A lot of the time up there I "scootch" them meaning let them hit the bottom and then only lift them about a foot...trebles are bad for that though, need to use just the double hooks or you'll lose a bait every other cast.
Use them from October - March almost exclusively for Walleye and Crappie, but do catch plenty of Bass also on them. Sometimes mid summer for Bass if I’m offshore. Cast out lift and drop mostly, will cast and slow roll on bottom at times, or dead stick in their face of suspended. Blades have made me a video game fishermen for sure, love it.
Bought a few...threw them a couple times and sold the rest on bbc.
Hot summer deep water at thermocline or deeper if none ...you are welcome
I use them enough I started buying the blanks in bulk and putting them together. Can make them for about $1 each. Great bait year round but they really shine in the winter and will absolutely catch any species that feeds on bait fish.

Billy Westmoreland knew some things about blades and hair and was who I wanted to learn from. I’ve been using both since the late 70’s. Neither ever left. What’s old is new(er) again. Typing as a smallie guy. Have fun with it Mark. Always good to learn a new technique and have fun doing it.

Lak Erie smallies, & low 40 water temps have blade baits written all over it!
The silver buddy was made right here in my hometown. So it gets used a lot here primarily in the winter when you find them schooled up deep. We have found it works best on a heavy action rod with braid. Zero stretch and get a good flutter action with short snaps of the bottom. Plus when you get snagged you can straighten the hooks with the braid and get your buddy back.

3/8 oz Gayblade is the gold standard on fall schooling hybrid stripers and Kentucky/ largemouth bass.
