Just a quick update. I am having to take a break on the "Hope". I suffered a neck injury in June during a tournament and just had surgery on Veterans day.

But I am down to one cut to pull the top cap. Also, all the compartment lids are off, dash and steering removed, and motor and rigging removed as well.

Im gonna upload a few pics to show a few things found and its current state

This shows the top cap after wet-sanding which further supported the decision to do a full regelcoat. As you can see, the flake is turned.

To show the color of Blue it should have (found on the transom) versus what it is now the rest of the arrow. The pic with the tape measure allow shows what color the boat is supposed to be up under the rubrail at the top of the pic versus what it is now below the arrow.

Good luck with it. You're a better man than I am. I would have taken a 5 gallon can of gas and a match to it by now.

Yes. It is a total rebuild. I am currently only one final cut from the top cap being detached and ready to pull. Also the wood under the nose top cap is shot and broken as well and will be replaced too.

The original seats on mine were Light Grey with a Blue tubing and quilted but it is the same style frame-wise.

Looks like you have your hands full with this restoration. Looking forward to see how it turns out and will be following your progress. I'm retired Navy and if I were closer I would come help you out but I'm in Fla. Good luck Brother and keep the pics coming and this thread alive....19702344_713862568814491_1597819494233998591_n.jpg

Maybe it's just an optical illusion, but where the V on the bow is, where the "beaching" damage is done it almost appears to be bulging, almost rounded instead of a sharp V.

I'd worry that Water has intruded there.

Dude, you have a lot of patience! Impressive. Seeing all the rot and stuff in some of these older glass rigs, makes me thankful I took on a 2001 Xpress... Not to say there aren't other issues. Nice job capturing the entire process!

Just a final update. It turned out to be way more than my body, and budget, could handle. So a guy bought it from me for his dad and him to complete together.
