    Favorite Winter time Fishing spots?

Where do people go to fish in the winter time in Virginia? If not just imagining this past time from the couch?

RAM, my favorite is the Chickahominy River in the winter. You really only need two lures. The "hot side" of Anna is good as well...but u gotta know a guy ;)

The hot side of Anna is fun for numbers. But it's private so you need to know someone with some lake access property to be able to use a ramp.

Do you know anyone with lake access? It doesn't freeze?

Ram, there used to be guy in that area that would advertise access. I think he was a wrench turner at a power plant somewhere. His nickname was "NFL Stache" as we was able to grow about 11 hairs on each side of his lip.

Is there anyway to get in touch with this "NFL Stache" fellow? Would certainly be interested in getting to fish this portion of Lake Anna as there seems to be very restricted access.

River discharge pipes. +3 degrees in the James. Slow down but make it thump.

No it doesn't freeze. I have access but I can't really give permission since it's not my lot.

I fish Smith Mountain Lake all winter, for Striped Bass.

the hotside is fun time in the winter...last time I was over there I think most of the water was still in the 60's....The cold side is fun for striper fishing and you always have a chance at a "good one" this time of the year..id like to hit the chick river sometime in the winter

Interesting subject. I’m either on Anna hot or cold side and Buggs.. The Chick is my favorite in the State but never thought of fishing it this time of year. Can you say road trip.

Anna cold side will have bigger fish, but not numbers. Rarely freezes from 208 bridge down to Dike 3.

Seems to me if you think about typical winter tactics and where fish tend to go in winter, just about any body of water is worth a try.
