    7’6” 10XD rod?

Seems like they’re all 7’9-8’. I’d really like to go 7’6. Any suggestions?

You're wanting something specific to the 10XD, or something that can handle it occasionally? Guessing the former, but if the latter you'll have some more options.

I fish a Phenix X-13 that's right there at 7'6", is an absolute dream to fish for a cranking rod, and is rated to throw stuff that big (up to 3 oz, though I think the upper end of that range is a little optimistic like a lot of Phenix ratings). I think that it would be OK for occasional use, but it's really more at home throwing stuff in the DT16, DT20, 6XD range and lighter/shallower diving stuff. The problem is its handle is too short for throwing something bigger all day. I honestly believe the blank can handle it just fine, but you just can't get the leverage on it you need to take the pressure off your wrists and elbow. I think that might be part of why you don't see them down to 7'6" very often, you need to have a longer handle which then takes away some of the length you want to be able to bomb one way out there.

Following to see what suggestions folks have! You may have to go custom to get something that will really work there...a blank like the RodGeeks SG711XHMF cut down to 7'6" should fit the bill: https://rodgeeks.com/collections/fiberglass-s-glass

That rod sounds like something I’d look at, but I do get your point about the handle. I have some sticks that go up to 1 1/2 but really need a rating of at least 2 I think and perhaps the handle length a couple inches longer. I’d throw them more if I had the right rod, just want something that will fit my 7’6 locker. Thanks!

Yes. It is excellent on my Dobyns Fury 795. It's a really great fit for it.

Cool, I’ll have to try on my SWB and see how it works out. Might solve the gap I have in the rod lineup.

I throw then on an E6X 884 SWB. It's a decent enough rod for 8XDs and 10XDs but there are probably better ones out there at the E6X price point.

Yeah I just got a 904 SWBR so I’ll see how they do with that. It’s a compromise, but if it’s close then that may be enough.

I’ve thrown them on a swimbait rod, Powell max 3D 765sbr, 795, and the endurance 765. My favorite rod if I’m a Coangler and limited to 5 rods is the 765sbr max 3D. It will handle the 10xd well, light a-rig work, flipping, Carolina, football jigs, big spinnerbaits, and of course swimbaits. It’s a little soft for the bottom bait work but is an incredible all purpose rod. Good frog rod too if you aren’t in the thickest stuff imaginable.
