Not price related but I would strongly recommend a 175 HP if possible. Everybody I know that has the 189TRX with 150 hp feels it’s a tad under powered. Still a great boat. A good friend has the 150 4 stroke and can get about 54 miles an hour, I believe with a 175 you’re looking around 63 to 65.

If it had the 175 Pro XS and was an out the door price ( incl. tax shipping, dealer prep, etc.) I would say yes.

If you want to pm me I will tell you what I paid for my 2020 18 TRX with 200 Pro XS V8 to help you decide.

There is currently (Jan. 3rd. Through March 31 st) a Triton promotion going on where you get a $800 cover $200 Apparel Certificate, and a $500 discount for a total value of $1500. This is only for current inventory stock so does not apply to ordered boats.

Lowrance Ti2 units, not sure what size though. If you look closely it says TI2, not T12, at least that’s my guess.

Yes the 42,995 is the listed out the door price. To be more specific it has a 9” Elite Ti2 on the Bow and 9” Elite Ti2 on the console both are flush mounted..

Here’s a 2020 trx 189 for $43995 with the 175, duel axle trailer and more. This is before you negotiate things such as price or possibly upgraded electronics.

Agreed 100%. My buddy had a 189TRX with a 150hp. He was not happy with the 150. His was a 57mph boat. If possible go with the 175hp.

Seriously overpriced IMO. Should come in JUST under $40K, maybe $41k.

    $34,495 base price.
    Elite TI2's - 2x$850= $1700
Fortrex = $627 (from Triton website for the upgrade to Fortrex over the baseline Edge)
    Tandem upgrade: $1,430
    Jackplate $555
    Cover = $671
Compartment lights = I'll estimate $500, no price on Triton website

Comes out to $39970. Dealer has tacked on a hefty surcharge there. You should be able to get the sale price down to $40k before taxes.

For what its worth, I feel the OPPOSITE of some of these opinions that the boat is underpowered with a 150. Mine is indeed a 57mph boat with a 150 on it, but it feels loose as hell on the fast days when it feels like pushing up to 60. Spoke to a guy at a boat show two weeks ago who said he has a 200 on his and feels its way overpowered and usually runs in the mid 50s. IMO unless you're regularly making 15-20 mile runs you don't need any more than the 150. Although I know we're on BBC so speed is king around here. But that is just my opinion.

I'll add that upon closer inspection you said its $42,995 out the door. Depending on your state's sales taxes, that is actually probably a pretty decent price. I was out the door just under $40k on mine, but the biggest difference is gonna be the jackplate / tandem trailer / Fortrex, all of which would push you right into that 43k territory. So actually probably a fair price, bet you can maybe knock them down another $500 or so but probably a fair price.

I rode with my buddy, with two people 54 MPH max. Put on the max allowed, which is a 175. I would agree a 200 horse is more than you need, but 90% of the people regret putting a 150 on that boat that is rated for 175. It will also affect your resale, I promise. JMHO

You can better I think. See if you can find any left overs.

My 2019 leftover with 175 Pro XS 4 Stroke was about 6 grand cheaper.

Granted no jackplate and only one hook2 5, but you can shop those individually a lot better than what the dealer is selling it to you for.

Is it the tournament package with two live wells and pumpout?

I have a 200 on my 18trx and to me thats the right power for this hull. Def not overpowered. Theres nothing that says you have to run wot all the time i can cruise 55 mph and not even make the motor sweat meaning less wear and tear and better economy while to run those speeds your 150 will be about at its limit. Just a different perspective.

I came to the same conclusion while shopping for a 189 TRX. The 18 TRX has several standard equipment items that are optional on the 189 TRX. A hot foot and Jack plate are two. Water pressure gauge and volt meter are 2 more. And don't forget the Pro Trim on the helm. May have left out more but these come to mind.

When I first started looking for a new boat, I had my sights set on the 189 TRX with a 175. There were none to be found, and then I came across the 18TRX with a 200, so I went with it. I was looking for a holdover 2019 boat, which is what I found. If you can find a good deal on a 189, you can’t go wrong in my opinion. That said I’m glad it worked out the way it did for me, but I would’ve been happy with that 189 with a 175.

I remember paying $22,000 for a new 186 with a 150 and thinking that was crazy.

I kind of agree with this hypothesis. I think you should post this on the Triton page. Could be the top cap is too thin. My boat has a ton of cracks in the gel, but I know why, this I do not.
