    Lithiums in a Falcon....

Has anyone started running Lithiums? I partnered up with Amped outdoors and will be switching over soon.....Matt just came out with an official 60ah and 80ah cranking battery!! Putting out 1200cca! Thats huge for us northern guys on cold mornings and fishing late into the season! If any of you guys order let me know and I have a code you can use to take 10% off! Im excited for an even better hole shot and improved fuel economy!!

I am running the Ionics sold bny Drewtick on the boards here. I run a 125AH and 3 50ah batteries for the troller. The boat seems to float a bit higher and have a slightly better hole shot. It is not noticeably faster but I am very happy so far with the purechase. I have not gone below 60% on the 50ah but I am more a plastics guy than a cover water on 100 guy. Spot lock for long periods have been no problem at all though!

I have fished in the California Delta which can have a lot of current. It was not a problem for me on those occasions but I did not stick my nose in the current and cover water against it all day on 8 or 9. I am certain you would have a very hard time killing the 50's but it could be done. A 75 or up amp hour setup would fish almost anything all day with no worries. The Lithiums are still kind of new to me and I have not pushed them hard enough to really test. I have fished hard (my style) and then checked them on the Bluetooth app (Ionics have a Bluetooth app so you can check them anytime on your phone) at the end of the day expecting them to be around 20-30 percent and had 75% left. They also recharge in under 2 hours normally. I think they are a nice addition but I do not know if I consider them "better and worth it" yet. If they last more years then it will be a for sure yes but that part remains to be seen.

Funny, I just posted a thread in the General Bass Boat forums about the Amped Outdoors 80 amp starting lithium. Definitely let me know how that works for you, I had slight concerns about 80 amp hours versus the 100 amp hours people usually run. I really want to make the switch, i've got 4 heavy ass agm and lead acid batteries in the bilge of my 195 and it's definitely rear heavy. Would love to lighten that load for holeshot purposes.

Matt's a super smart guy especially on what it takes to run electronics and so forth so I know he wont create a battery that will fail on supporting everything for the day or more. I forgot the conversion on size group it is from lead acid to lithium but I know the Lithiums are better per smaller AH. Either way I would be excited to lose that much weight in the back of my boat!

Are you running the 60 AH or the 80 AH?

I havent made the switch yet will be doing so here within the next month or so. I'll discuss with Matt which one he thinks will work best for my set up....I might just do the 80AH just for peace of mind honeslty but we shall see.

Going ahead and ordering 80ah cranking and 3-60ah for trolling.....cant wait....should drop roughly 165lbs from the rear!!!! Yes that is what she said! LOL.....I think with the extra room im going to add in a storage crate back there to throw in some safety equipment and open up my one storage compartment! Gotta love the back end of a Falcon and all the room!

Scum frog, did you get your rub rail fixed? Did Falcon help with the cost?

What is the approximate cost to make the change from AGMs to Li ion setup, 1 cranking and 3 for 36 Vdc system

Not yet...I have a call into my local marine and waiting to see when they can get it in there. As of right now last we spoke Falcon was only willing to help repair the one (5') roughly area and thats it.....even though ive got an issue around the entire thing. I am probably going to see what amount they will cover and then see if dealer will just do the entire thing and what itll cost me because I want it done right with no more issues. It was annoying after every single trip taking it apart and putting screws back in or finding multiple broken off.

Switching to lithiums will depend on set up but if you do what I did....80ah cranking and three 60ah itll run you around $1500 roughly maybe less. You can then sell your AGMs to offset some of the cost as well. I figure though difference in fuel economy all the way around between boat and tow vehicle and oil consumption it should help as well.

The 80 amp one is sold out, I'm heavily considering the 60 amp one. Given my current amp draw and how much current my alternator puts out, it shouldn't be an issue.

Ya he should have the 80's back in stock within the next 2-3 weeks. I'll wait for the 80AH for sure just to be sure....now if your not a huge electronic guy and usually only run one at a time then 60ah should do just fine.

Well my 80AH cranking lithium should be here any day now....stoked for that.....im still up in the air on my TM batteries....I can get a solo 36v and save some money and weight or I can go three 12v........im really up in the air on this because if a 12v goes out I can have a spare in the truck and slap it in at any point and save my day....if a 36v goes out im toast.....unless i run to the store and grab 3 batteries........what would you guys do? Im honestly about to say screw it and just do the three 12v and play it safe?

I calculated the weight of their 60 amp hour 12 volts, and three of them would be like 40 lbs. That's already huge weight savings over lead acid. Can't imagine having much more gains with one 36v. They confirmed you can run the 12 volt ones in series?

I decided to play it safe and do the 3-12v 60AH.....If we werent doing home mod's this spring i'd honestly buy two 36v and run them side by side and IF one would die on the water then have a quick connect and take it off and connect to the other one.....thats about the only way to truly play it safe......buttttt we are doing home renovations so looks like im going with the 3-12v and playing it safe and anytime I travel I will keep a lead acid in the truck with me just in case.
