Hydraulic jack plate! Bob’s Machine Shop or Atlas?

Looking to add a jack plate to my Z185. I’ve been reading about Bob’s and Atlas. Which should I buy, and why?

It has been discussed on BBC numerous times look in the search bar and you can read for a few days I think what you’re going to come up with is do you want a Ford or Chevy just my two cents. They both are great products in my opinion

I'm very happy with my Atlas, it has operated flawlessly over the past four years now. I've never owned a Bob's jackplate, but have heard nothing but good reviews about them as well. I think you will be satisfied with either.

X2. Both are good but Bob's is smoother and faster.

Really like the Atlas plates, we have literally sold hundreds of the Atlas plates with very few problems over the last 20 years, my personal boat had a Atlas, never would own any thing else!!!

Either will do the job, but the Bob's is a far superior product...

No problem with my Atlas. Heard nothing but good about Bobs. The Atlas is a better looking setup IMO.
There’s no use being stupid if you’re not willing to show it off.

I've owned both. I put a Bob's on a Xpress X19 that I once owned. This z520 came with a Atlas. If I was purchasing a jackplate, I'd buy the Bob's no question. With that said, I'm not going to take a working Atlas off my Ranger just to go buy a new Bob's either.

My biggest problem with the Atlas is that my (now older version) is not compatible with the lift gauge. Thus I had to DIY make my own sensor to work with the sending unit just to make the gauge work. T&H Customer Service literally could care less. Bob's Machine Shop Customer Service is awesome (or at least they were 4-5yrs ago when I needed them).

    Good Luck with your decision.

Bobs are super smooth, easy to keep clean, never loose power and no chatter
Atlas works but has problems with all the above.

Bob’s. They're smoother, faster, have less movement at full up and they have better customer service.

Never owned an Atlas, but have owned several Bob's, CMC and Detweilers. Bob's has been the best of the bunch for me. I just ordered a new Bob's Action Jack direct from the factory in Fla for a current boat build. They took $100 off the bill for a 10" Action Jack for being a Veteran.

I have a Hydrodynamics Hydraulic JP. It is built identical to the Bob's plate but much beefier due to our boats running the propshaft above the pad. I have a Bob's JP gauge on this plate and I had a Bob's JP gauge on my older CMC JP. The bob's gauge kit is the best there is. Simple to install and dead on accurate every time. For that reason I would buy a Bob's JP if I were in a boat that did not surface the gearcase.
