Any SI or 360 images of underwater ledges.

fishing some ledge tops that are 30-40 ft deep and fall straight off. The active fish normally hold directly on the lip.
Just installed a g3n SI and waiting on the M360.. When positioned directly over the ledge my old g2n 2d and di is reading multiple depths and the image is not very good.. wondering if someone has some good images from the deep side of a ledge that shows what's holding on the lip ?
    thanks Mike

Don't have any big river ledge images.

Small creek rocky ledge holding just above the drop:

Moved over into the channel a small amount:

    School me on this..
Third image in Wayne's post----- For my sake, lets say that red Brdg mark has a light pole extending to the surface. If I'm correct it shows to be a little past a 20' ring.. So lets say it's 21' the boat is sitting in 17.6' of water.
My question -- would it be 21' from the boat to that light pole or 21' + 17.6' = 38.6'

Imaging is Slant Range. The base of the light pole is 21' from the transducer.
You would have to calculate the horizontal distance from the transducer to the light pole using the A2 + B2 = C2
    C2 is the Slant Range

Ok.. I think I was misinformed.. For my benefit.. to get me thinking correctley (no laughing here)

So if the base of that light pole is 21' from the transducer... Lets draw a line straight down from transducer to bottom at 17.6' that means the base of that pole is only a few ft from straight down? If that's correct I could most likely touch the top of that light pole with my rod tip....... Not near as far from the boat as what I was once told.

If you fishing rod is 12' long you could touch the light pole.

    CORRECTION
OPPPPPSSSS you got me confused. The base of the light pole is about 42' from the transducer, NOT 21'. The range rings are 20'

So the horizonal distance to the pole is 38.13'

Typically I use 40' as the range setting, but used 80' for the bridge scan due to the depth and subject size.

LOL ! I do have a 6'10" arm span. The way I was told, to hit the base of that light pole I would have to cast about as far as I could to reach a 17' deep target.. With that mindset I would probably be reeling back up to make another cast before my bait got there.

Ok one more question. Same situation except the water is 10' deeper .. Would that red Brge symbol now show to be about halfway to the next 20' ring (31)
Just trying to make sure I can getter a better grasp of where I need to cast to hit the target.
    Thanks for your patience.

I bet so -- after looking again that is the second ring----- so yes 42' .

Darn now I am going to have to put my slide rule in my tackle box. Probably not a good idea as my fishing pardner drops everything he touches over the side. Don
