    Bass boats with Ulterras??

Which size shaft did you go with? I have a Triton and looking at them but not sure the length of shaft. I have
Xi5 now with I believe a 45” shaft. Didn’t know if Minn Kota would be the same.

I got the 60" shaft with the intention of having it cut down.....it has never been in my way so I left it as is.....

Would a 45” worked or is extra needed?

I have a Z519 and use a 45 inch. Fish on Mille lacs with no issues. That being said I stay off the water when it gets rough. Never once wished I had something longer. You need to think about the conditions YOU like to fish in.

I stayed away from 60 as I feared the possibility of it being in my way when I casted.

My fear exactly if I’m in shallow water. The 45” no issues even in waves?

if you fish in rough water the 52 is good. The 45 will likely come out of the water in big waves....my old one did. But yes the 45 will work.

I have a Ulterra 24V 45" on my Ranger RT188. Works just fine for me..BUT I dont want the TM head sticking up unless I need it higher. I dont have any problems with waves in the wind or other boats.

I keep going back and forth on the ultrex or this. Ive owned the Ultrex and loved it. That said I fish along a lot and would love the deploy option.

My last boat was a 2011 Ranger Z518. I put an Ulterra on it with a 45" shaft. Never had a problem with that length. My current boat is a 2017 Ranger Z519. I chose the Ultrex for it; 45" shaft again. I loved the automatic stow and deploy on the Ulterra, and I miss that a lot. But it's more important to me to have the natural feel of cable steering when I'm running the Ultrex.
It's what you learn AFTER you know it all that counts...

I brought this up with my daughter before buying my Ulterra.....she knows that I fish alone a lot and encouraged me to do it....2+ years and it's been awesome.....I just back the rig in, step out of the truck and deploy, move it from in front of the ramp if needed and spotlock, go park the truck and call her to the dock.....Best decision I ever made.

Is the remote on the Minn Kota responsive? I mean when you use the remote for it to go left or right, or even slow down or speed up, there is no delay? MyXi5 is very responsive.

I have a 52 on my maxxum. Overkill for my G3 tin boat but when I needed to upgrade I got a great deal on it used. Life saver on windy days and lakes with a lot of traffic. Only downfall is shallow flipping from that side of the boat because I raised the shaft up the maximum height.
