What is the difference between a Z518 and a Z518L --- 2020
Other than rated horsepower, it’s all in the equipment and options. For me, the ones that stick out are the items that you cannot add to a 518 as options: digital dash panel with push-button start, padded deck, and waterline striping. Other than that, there are several items that don’t come standard on a 518 that are included on the L. They all can be ordered from Ranger Parts and installed/upgraded on the L, however. Even the chrome trim pieces, which do dress up the standard 518 quite a bit.

Padded deck was standard on my 2019 518 (non-L)...did they really change that in 2020?

No, but it can be cut in if desired.
