Transducer Help Needed - Gen 1 Helix 12 SI Chirp

<sup>Hey everyone, I’ve done a ton of searches and reading here and can’t find the answer I’m looking for.

I need a replacement transducer for a trolling motor at the bow, and purchased a XTM 9 HW T transducer. Unit is the original Helix 12 SI with Chirp technology.

Problem is, it’s winter here and with everything frozen, I can’t test. I don’t know if this new transducer will actually work, Humminbirds’ website isn’t clear whether it will or not. These units came stock with the XHS 9 HDSI 180 T.

I dint care about using SI / DI at the bow, I just want a nice 2D image for jigging lakers, and used the HDSI on the trolling motor the last couple years. Any other options for 2D only ducers’ for this unit? Do I have to purchase another HDSI, or will that new Chirp ducer the XTM 9 HW T work ya think? Have to figure this out soon if I want to return it, can’t wait till summer!

That has been discussed extensively. You will damage your unit with a HW transducer since you have no setting to match it.

Aaahhhh that’s bad news. Any alternative that people are using for 2D and Chirp only? I don’t need another HDSI ducer up front if there’s a cheaper option. Those are becoming hard to find.

XTM 9 20 T. It has the same piezo as the one in the HDSI transducer.

Thanks so much for the help. Very informative, I was led down the wrong direction with our local store, I’ll have to chat to them about this.
