    Replacing spare

I am going to be replacing my 10 year old Good Year Marathons with the Endurance next week. The spare is untouched and shows no signs of dry rot or cracks. Should I still replace it being its 10 years old.

I asked the tire shop this question a year ago when I replaced my tires. My spare is the original from 2000 and never been used. Boat has been stored in a garage most of it's life. Tire shop guy said don't worry about it, it will be fine.

I'd replace it... Cheaper now than if you need it later and it fails.

Returning from a river tournament, another angler in front of me had a blowout on old tires, replaced it with his old, never used spare and made it to the next exit before it blew out. Replace them all.

It's a gamble. The DOT requires tires 10 yrs. & older to be taken off the road.

I ended up doing all of them today. Figured for the price of 1 trie it was a good insurance policy. Thanks guys.

Depends on YOUR peace of mind. When towing anywhere and get a blowout, will that 10 year old spare tire give you the peace of mind? Only you can answer that!

Replace it. My spare is part of my bi-annual tire rotation so its always used at some point

Replace the spare but not with a high price tire just to match the others. I consider a spares job is to get me to a place where I can replace or repair the failed tire. You can get a dependable spare for half the price of an Endurance. Place a cover on it to add protection from UV rays and repeat in 10 years. Just my 2 cents.
