    98 Johnson 150 ficth started problem

    What causes the starter to keep spinning after the ignition switch is turned off?

    I installed a new starter last month and every thing was fine, I took it to the lake last week and sometimes when I tried to start it it would just spin( not engaged to the flywheel then it would not stop when I turned the key off, today I put a new starting battery in the boat and it started just fine a couple of times then it started and the starter stay engaged. Any suggestions?
