POP R STYLE BAITS- Do you use a split ring to tie your bait to ?

Just got a few pop r style baits in some have a split ring to tie your line to while the others do not- what is your preference and why?

I personally like the split ring but many people will tie a loop knot to give the bait a better walking action.

If it doesn't have a split ring, I use a size 0 crosslock snap.

30lb braid main line with about a 3-4 foot 14lb mono leader. Loop knot to the pop r. The mono is stiffer then the braid and won't tangle the hooks as often if a fish hits and misses, allowing you to continue working the bait and often get a follow up strike

You guys like straight braid or braid to mono leader? I find straight braid constantly gets fowled in the hooks every other cast when using spinning gear using like a 10lb test J BRAID right to the pop R.

Using pop r style bait. I tie direct to the bait. No split ring or loop not. By moving the knot up or down on the eye of the bait. You can adjust the action of the bait.

I use a duo lock to the split ring.

I tie directly to the line tie. I mostly use mono with a pop r type bait. If I use braid I tie a short mono leader to keep the braid out of the hooks. I have a friend who uses fly line dressing on the last foot of braid to stiffen it which helps keep it free of the pop r hooks.

Tied to eye directly. I can't get it to "spit" right with a snap or split ring.
