    2005 Optimax 150 - Water Tube

I removed the lower unit to replace the impeller on my '05 Optimax 150 and the water tube came out attached to the pump. I'm thinking this isn't good, but, I don't know how bad it is. What little I can find indicates the powerhead has to come off for the new seal to be installed. Is that correct?

put some slickum on it (dish soap works good ) get a flash light and put it back in the hole it came out of shoudnt need a new seal under powerhead unless its torn up, and yes powerhead has to come off and then some for a replacement

It's normal. 50/50 that mine will either stay in the engine grommet or come out with the lower.

Btw, the 2.5L forum just below this one covers your 150.

Apologies for the incorrect placement. But since you're here... :) If I can't get the tube to "stick" in the head, I'm assuming that means the engine grommet has gone bad? I can move this to the proper thread for sure.

Try it first, if it won't stay, we'll be here.

Just to close this out- in the shop now. Big $$ to repair. I struck something that bent the prop shaft and that caused a cascade of failures.

If you have full insurance, it normally covers impact damage.

I do and it covered most of the costs. It's still in the shop.
