    What is the recommended size jackplate for a 1998 461vs with a 175 mercury?

    I think back in the day the most that was recommended is 6".

    My 90's boats all had the 5.5" CMC power lift jack plate and they are still available today. I would not do more than 6" with an 18' boat especially with the heavier motor weights of today.

    6" works perfect on my 96 461 with a 150 merc.
