like yam911 said looks good. Now do yourself a favor while you are in it this deep, put a set of WSM pistons in it from Hydro Tec if they have not been changed. No way I would trust the ring locating pins to stay in with stock pistons in a engine this old. CJ

Wish I had the money I would but hopefully these motors are good for more than 300 hours I don't think I would have had any problems now if not for a stuck injector

I doubt it but gives him a place to buy from and the knowledge to supply the right ones the first time. CJ

I believe they are the WSM Platinum series but again it has been awhile. These engines run right on the edge of detonation and that is what I and a few others believe they rattle the ring locating pins loose on the piston. The top 2 cylinders run the warmest and have the most probability for detonation/pre ignition. So that is why they are normally the failure ones, unless a bad injector or something else takes one out. In your case you are into it this far at least pull the pistons and check the pins. For a little bit of time you may save a costly repair bill in just a few hours. just a suggestion. CJ

I did I pulled all of them out I can still see the hone marks on the rest of the cylinders but I did go ahead and ordered all new wsm pistons from wsm I only see one piston on their site so hopefully they are the platinum ones20200213_102337.jpg

Looks like a bit of dirt embedded into the skirts, by looking at the pistons I would measure them to see the wear on them if any. Just have different looking wear patterns. On number 1 and 2 take a set of needle nose pliers and see if you can wiggle or remove the locating pins for the rings. Measure the piston to wall clearance and check ring end gap [should be no problem with that but I check anyway] then you will KNOW the powerhead is right. CJ

Did you check fuel pressure. It is not uncommon to have to tilt a HPDI up to start. Water pressure on the exhaust? Almost sounds like what yours is doing with not running in the water but on the hose. Don't have any idea why as I have not had one with this issue long enough to figure it out. Did you do all the adjustments, throttle linkage, idle, TPS, ect? CJ
