    Champ 210 or 198?

In the market but am torn. Debating between a 2008 210 elite and a 2008 198cx. The 210 worries me a little with the megalink and touch pad issues and the rocker switch conversion harnesses no longer available. The 198 has standard rockers and is about 4-5k less but am I going to miss the extra length and 25hp?

    thoughts/suggestions?

Saw a 198 2005 in Craigslist SF bay area, or Modesto California, only had 37 hrs. Looks good too.

The 198 is a great boat, will handle anything the 210 will if you know how to drive it.

198 is a fantastic boat. Both boats are. It will do anything the 210 will. They run good and fish good. I fish a lot of docks so to me the advantage at that point goes to the 198. Really depends on what your looking for in a boat. If the boats are in comparable shape then this should be an easy decision for you Get the 198 and take that extra money and run. Good luck!!

I am also a fan of the 198 and also fish alot of docks. If it has a yamaha you can get the 25 HP back and more if you want to!!!!

Between the two, I doubt there would be much difference in speed. The 210 is heavier than the 198.

Both are awesome boats. The 210 is a battleship and the 198 is a little smaller and more nimble but still really big up front. I don't think you will miss the foot of length or 25 hp in the 198. The 198 will be a couple mph slower usually but that's about it. If the boats are in similar condition, hours, trolling motor, and electronics then I would go with the 198. Then I would use the extra $5K you saved to purchase a new trolling motor and electronics, assuming those are original. The important part of buying a used boat is the motor, transom, and trailer, and also has the boat been stored inside. Good luck with your decision.

Me like big couch style fishing now. I have the 206 and wish I had the 210. Dual windshields and still have lots of room. They are definitely heavy boats though. Dont have much experience with the 198.

It is all in that front deck. I would go with the 210. Amazing platform.

In the last year or two of Champions existence they went back to analog switches in the 210. That's a rare bird to find. I think you will be very happy with either model. Keep an eye on boattrader, Facebook, & craiglist.

Bought a 198 CX 2009 with 225 OptiMax in 2009 and it is a great riding boat. Invest the extra cash in electronic upgrades.

For me bigger is better, I also have to 206 and as tomloans above stated the only other boat I would consider is a 210. I love the 206 size, fishability, storage space, front deck handling everything and the 210 is the same basic boat as the 206. They are not "speed boats" but with my 250 pro xs I can get 65 mph fully loaded.
