    2D transducer ?

I have searched and cannot find the answer to my question.

I have an 1198SI with separate 2D transducer for high speed reading. Can I use this 2D transducer Y`d into my Helix Mega gen3 for 2D readings Y`d with cable 9M SIDEY cable or do I need another transducer to make this work? Or am I better off going with XP9 HW transducer for high speed readings.

    Thanks

If your Helix MEGA G3N is a SI+ model:
Not if you want the MEGA unit to remain a MEGA unit. You can dumb down the Helix to the 1198 level by using the 1198's transducers and changing the Connected Transducer to High Definition Side Imaging.

If you want the SI+ unit to remain a SI+ unit you need to change the separate 2D transducer to a HW transducer and use the 9 M SIDB Y cable and the included MEGA SI+ transducer.

Exactly which Helix MEGA gen3 unit do you have?

I have the Heli 12 Mega SI Gen 3N I know I need the SI transducer from the Mega but just wondered if the 2D transducer from the 1198 would work for high speed readings when Y`d with 9MSIDEY cable. Instead of spending more money on the XP9 HW transducer, as digging around I do not know the difference between the 2 2D transducers .

No the 2D transducer will not work with the Helix.

You have a Dual Beam 83/200 kHz transducer.
The Helix has Dual Spectrum High Wide CHIRP 140-240 kHz 2D sonar.
