I just bought a 97 518vs with a 200 efi I want to add my poweroles but it dosent have a jackplate to mount em. I was told a jackplate could possibly hurt the performance any one have any advice and knowledge on this set up. Thanks in advance

Buy sandwich brackets
6” jack plate will help a lot not sure if that is same hull as mine I think it is or is yours rated for a 225? I only have a manual plate and it really made a difference

Ok, thanks yall that's what I was wanting to hear positive responses lol.
I have a 6” manual on my 1998 518DVS. Better hole shot and over all handling. I think Ranger says 6” is the max on that hull.
Give them a call. Don’t want to over stress the transom.
The 8” I have on mine hasn’t hurt any..
