Networking 1040 XS GPSMAP with Newer GPSMAP Unit

I know have to stay in same species when networking. My question is would a newer GPSMAP unit say like an 8610 or 7610 be able to use with my GCV 10 box and its transducers. My Gt-30 transducer is the one that comes with GCV. I am reasonably pleased with its performance.

What I hope to do is just install the newer unit and connect to network. Just don't know for sure if the newer one will display the SI-DI and 2D that my 1040 does.

My hunch is it would but don't want to bet the amount it would take to try it.

According to the specs, they are compatiable with the GCV sonar black box.

My question, why not connect GT30 direct to unit??
