    Jack Plates

Does anyone know the weight of a 6" Detwiller hydraulic plate and a Hydrotec ?"-11" Leverage plate?

I have one on the boat, just trying to calculate the weight of the total rig going fishing. I figure the Detwiller must weigh around 90-100 lbs, just a guess.

Don't go light weight on a jackplate. Go strong. Plus the jackplate weight is behind the pad, helping to lift the bow.

I would think the jackplate weighs less than the Leverage as the Detwiler is much more narrow (6" verses 11") and on mine, the pump for the jackplate is in the back right compartment. I would estimate 25 lbs and that may be high.

ADDED: Did some web searching and best I can tell is that a 6" Detwiler would weigh in at about 40 lbs. I assume that would have the pump integrated into the jackplate.

Mine has the pump integrated into the plate.
John, I'm not changing plates, this is my second rig with the Detwiller and I have found both to be bullet proof. I am just looking for the weight of the unit. Thanks Bob and John for replying.

It is amazing how different the boat handles with about 40 less pound hanging of the transom. I may even need to lower the engine one more bolt hole as I had extra height added to the setback plate that replaced the leverage.

It is always interesting to try new things with these boats.

I agree, I even modified a set of 2.5" spacers to add more height so I could try 19.5" set back to where I ended up and be able to raise the motor where it needed to be. I now run the leverage and the hyd detwiller for 17" set back. It seem to work for me at elevation and on the White River.

When I replaced the 280 ss with a 300xs I reduced the set back by 6 inches and it really helped the handling with the heavier engine. May have gone the wrong way but it works ok for me.
