Minn Kota Ultrex sonar

Looking to purchase a new Minn Kota ultrex i-pilot link with US2 Sonar will this give me mega Imaging on my Helix 10 mega g2n SI. Or do I need to get an Ultrex with "Mega" sonar?

You have to get it with the correct transducer that will do what you want it to do. US2 is the basic transducer. You'll need to get the Mega version.

There are two MEGA transducers with Minnkota
MDI is HW CHIRP 2D sonar and MEGA Down Imaging
MSI is HW CHIRP 2D sonar and MEGA Side Imaging--don't think that model has been released yet

If either case you have to change the Connected Transducer setting to Built-in HW+MDI or Built-in HW+MSI to keep from damaging the transducer and the display if you have the discontinued 2017/2018 G2N.
The HW Promo G2N for 2019/2020 has HW CHIRP as standard.

If you get the US2, you can put the included SI transducer on the motor.

thanks for the info guys. my issue is i plan to purchase a MK Ultrex with Mega and I currently have a Helix 10 Mega Chirp Si at my console i plan to move to the front to link to the Ultrex, will the SI work ok with the Mega Ultrex? then plan to replace the console Helix 10 with the new Solix 12".

If you want SI and a internal Minnkota transducer it HAS to be the Minnkota MSI version.
Helix and SOLIX units are compatible. The Helix needs an adapter and the SOLIX does not.

But if you buy a Solix in the future. The Helix and Solix will only be able to share waypoints, nothing else. If you want to share Transducer info, you will need to have another Helix.

Really appreciate all your replies guys, thanks. I think to be safe I will purchase as MK Ultrex with both Mega Si/Di. This should cove my current and future needs.

Wayne P. Is very knowledgeable about Humminbird equipment and In post #3 he stated you can have 2d chirp and Mega DI or 2d chirp and Mega SI.
If I read his post correctly there isn’t a Mega transducer on the Ultrex that’s has both SI and DI.

The MSI transducer does HW 2D sonar, Side Imaging, and Down Imaging.
