    Loomis Mag Rod for Jerkbaits

Wanted to ask if anyone uses any on the Loomis Mag rods for jerkbaits? I've read that a few anglers do but it seems limited. Pros? Cons?

Glx 842 for pointer 100s and mb 110s. 843 for the larger jerkbaits. For what it’s worth though, you don’t need glx sensitivity for a reaction bait like a jerkbait. Taper and action are more important.

Love the MBR782 for most jerkbaits. Planning to try a MBR842 this winter/spring. I'm probably too short for it though.

GLoomis E6X 843CBR is my personal bomb for a $200 mid-size bait reaction rod. I have that rod weight/action in IMX-Pro as well, but it's not $150 better than the E6X for reaction strikes.

802c in the old mossyback or the imx pro are my spook and jerkbait rods.
Very light action that works great for me.

842 MBR is a great rod for jerkbaits and smaller reaction baits. Anything from 1/4 to 5/16

842 and 843 will cover all your jerkbait need and are very versatile. I have an 843 on the deck of my boat every trip with something tied to it.

Thanks for all the feedback guys. The e6x has the 843MBR but doesn't have the 842MBR but the IMX-Pro does. I'll be throwing mostly in the 1/2 oz. range but would like to chuck 1/4oz. Jerkbaits and top water as well. How would the 843MBR handle 1/4oz. baits? My Jerkbait/top water Rod now is a St. Croix 68MXF but I have trouble casting 1/4oz baits.

The 843 is a rod that starts at 1/4 and ends at 3/4. 1/4 is going to be pushing the lower limits. Even internally weighted 1/4 oz jerkbaits will be tougher to cast especially with any accuracy or distance even with the right reel and line.

Get a 2 power for what your doing with it. Length is just a personal preference, to me I prefer a shorter rod for jerkbaits.
    6'8" is what I use.

I agree. I thought the 3 would be a tad heavy. Thanks for your help.

How does this rod compare to the last green Glx 845cbr?

The IMX PRO CBR was completely re-done. The rod itself is basically the same action as the old cinnamon stick with a slightly longer handle, approx 1.5 inches. I don't remember the exact number but that's close. Absolutely my favorite for Vision110, LC Pointer 100, and Staysee rod.
