    2010 200 HPDI Series 2

Looking at a skeeter with a 2010 200 HPDI Series 2 with 495 hours. Can you guys give me any insight on these? Good and bad. Thanks!

when they are running good they are great motors. It seems once they start having some gremlins the end is inevitable. i have an 08 and it ran like a clock for 6 years. Last year starting having odd rpms issues, in and out of the shop and finally thought it was fixed. Last wednesday motor blew.

From what I gather they tend to run on the lean side. So any little fuel issue if not caught or dealt with early could be a major issue down the road. But as with all motors i'm sure some had has success and some not so much. I think thats the year the sho's came out. I'd look for a slightly newer boat with a sho. Just my opinion.

Agree with bayouXpress. I have an 07 series 2 225. I had the injectors calibrated at three hours. I was amazed at how far out of spec they were. I would recommend doing that right off the bat, replacing all of the fuel filters, which there are about 12 or 13 including the little basket filters. Run non-ethanol fuel if possible, and Amsoil. Always let the motor warm up before putting the hammer down.

This is just my personal opinion, but I think the 200’s are less problematic than the 225’s and 250’s. They’re all the same block, just tuned differently. Could also be that there are fewer 200’s out there, so you don’t hear of problems with them as much as the bigger ones. I have an 08 200 with 358 hours and it runs great. Had injectors services last winter and always run non-ethanol fuel and ring free in every tank.

I'm looking at a ranger with an 08 series 2 hpdi 225 hp. I ha e an ox66 now so am kind of familiar with servicing it but is there a different procedure for removing the injectors?
Because if I buy it that's the 1st thing I'm doing is changing all the filters and sending the injectors off.

    Completely different.

OX66 uses low pressure injectors mounted to the intake manifold/throttle body. HPDI uses high pressure injectors mounted to the cylinder heads.

Thanks for the input guys. Do you have to use Yamalube in these or is quicksilver/amsoil/penzoil safe to use?

What HP & yr ox66? When my 04 225 HPDI went down ,hole thru the crankcase, I called Chris Carson & after talking to him ,I had him build me a full dressed ox 66 225 PH, pretty easy swap, same cowling, starts & runs better , uses a little more gas. Chris called the ox66 the " 327 chevy of outboards".
